p. I’m not sure there is such a thing as “One Degree’s take” (since we all write about our personal opinions and bring different experiences and biases to everything we do), but I thought it might be a good group excercise for us.

Let me kick things off by noting that Googling “Nintendo Revolution” today yields 7.9 million results while “Nintendo Wii” yields 6. Hell that’s close to a Googlewhack!
I think the key word in Matt Williams’ question to One Degree is ‘potential.’
At this point, it is incredibly premature to label it a failure. Shouldn’t we wait until the bottom line has been drawn?
That being said, I actually think the mark is quite engaging. The two lowercase ‘i’s give it a really personality, transforming the mark into an avatar.
There is a certain ‘inclusive’ feeling about it that suggests maybe the gaming system is for a customer that previously wouldn’t have considered themselves in the market for one.
As for the common criticism that one doesn’t know how to correctly pronounce it, well, since this is a Canadian site, we might all recall our youth and how the majority of us never pronounced the shoes on our feet as Nikey.
I think it has potential AND that it’s done a lot of it’s job already. Everyone and their dog is talking about Wii on the internet, in newspapers and anywhere else. I like the name now that I have had a couple days for the change to settle in.
