Automated Blogs – a “faux pas”?

I have heard about so-called “faux blogs” in the past but came across something recently that made me investigate further. As I started learning more here is what I came across.
These faux or false blogs are automated blogs that don’t seem to have any live human being writing the majority of the content. However, they are popping up all over the place, especially when looking for information on a hot topic like popular actors, musicians or other celebrities.

If you go to Breaking News Bits you will have a selection of blogs including Britney Spears News, Howard Stern News and, my favourite, Jessica Simpson News. Blog sites like this seem to automatically search the blog universe for key words or phrases (e.g. “Britney Spears”) and copy this content and link to it. Why do they do it? To make money, of course! Most of these sites seem to have one thing in common. Advertising.
Next time you read a blog post on a very hot topic check to see if it is new writing or just someone copying from another blog. If have your own blog and want it to end up at a “faux blog” near you, adding to the Google search relevence, just make sure you include as many popular search terms as you can, including, but not limited to:
Paris Hilton, Nick Lachey, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, Michael Jackson, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Carmen Electra, Coldplay, Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Green Day, Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne.
