How to Get Your Storefront Message Right

How to Get Your Storefront Message Right
If you're the proud owner of a small business, your storefront is probably one of the most important aspects of your company. Without an ideal storefront, you're risking losing business and not getting the people there that will help to improve revenue and sales. The more important thing you can do is to make vital changes to your storefront that will attract people who might be driving or passing by on foot. Your foot traffic will help your advertising through word-of-mouth and get you on the right track when building up your company. Here are some ideas for improving your physical image.

The Right Signage

You need the proper signage to get people interested in your brand. This sign should be large enough for those who are driving on the road, but you might also want to consider a sign that can be seen at eye level for individuals walking past and might not know what type of business you are. Consider getting your signs professionally made so that you're not handwriting them and risking them looking unprofessional. Make your logo, name, and message clear.

Recent News and Ads

In and around your storefront and window displays, you're going to want to include any ads or promotions that you're having. This will get people interested in coming in because they feel that you're offering them a great sale. Be sure to keep your storefront as current as possible, as you don't want to have old ads and sales in the window and then not honor them in the store because you simply forgot to change the signs. Use chalk boards to display daily specials or sales, and use your displays to let people know what your newest products are.

Security for Your Store

You can and should make use of a home security package or app to keep your store as protected as possible. One of the main issues that small business owners have is security because they are not as high-tech and prepared as larger stores. Because of this, you should utilize a good security system that you can easily and quickly make use of for your own benefit. Security system features have expanded into home automation and mobile control which makes it more convenient for you as a business owner to incorporate.

Make It Clear What You Offer

The worst thing a store can do is to not make it clear what is being offered. Despite the fact that you might have an odd name for your business, you still need to make it clear and apparent what you offer to the public. This can easily be done by adding the type of services or products you offer in your signage, or in the front of your store when people pass by.

Store Hours and Business Information

It can be incredibly frustrating to people who are passing by to not know when you're open. You need to have the right sign in front that gives information on the hours you're open and closed. This is essential for when you are trying to establish routine business hours and let clients know what you're offering them.

Keep the Door Open

On nice days during the spring, summer, and fall, consider keeping your business doors open. This provides a welcoming and open invitation for your customers to come in and make use of your services. Because of this, it's essential to understand you'll need a kickstand of some kind to keep the door open safely. You might be surprised at how many people come into your store just because you left the door open for them to come on in more easily.

As you can see, there are a lot of things you can and should add to your storefront to make it more welcoming to your visitors. If you put the time and effort into improving your storefront, you might even notice that it improves the overall success of your business and enables you to make the income that you have always dreamed you could make as a company owner.

Awesome article! Those small little tactics like a chalkboard changing daily with updated deals and prices as well as leaving the front door open really do count. Depending where you are and doing your shopping, that open front door can attract people who didn’t even know they needed that new trinket or that extra cup of coffee from the quiet and cozy looking shop. You see it in smaller towns as well where their main streets have all of the businesses with the doors open and people moving between shops. It creates a social atmosphere that is warm and inviting.
