Canada’s proposed digital tax could face ‘significant consequences,’ U.S. Congress committee warns

Dozens of members of the United States Congress are warning Canada’s plans to impose a unilateral digital services tax on Big Tech is a “risky” choice that could damage U.S.-Canada relations. In a letter Tuesday, 41 members of the House ways and means committee said “Canada’s unusually aggressive and discriminatory approach would target U.S. companies and workers who would disproportionally bear the burden of this new tax.”
