It is the key tool that has played a part in driving the success of practically every billion-dollar company that has come up in the past 10 years. It has made Jeff Bezos the world’s richest man and turned Apple into the first trillion-dollar public company. The music industry has been totally transformed because of it. Traditional retailers have never been on shakier ground because of it, but they look to it for their salvation.

Shopify Tries a Store Strategy and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 10/12/18

-commerce processor Shopify Inc. opened its first brick-and-mortar “entrepreneur space” in downtown Los Angeles. The site will provide in-person support, training, and education to Shopify merchants, and the company’s suite of retail hardware products will be available. Shopify says it has 10,000 merchants in L.A. and 80,000 in California.

Retailers are waking up to a $21 billion industry they have mostly ignored for years: Plus-size women’s clothing.
More than half of US women ages 18 to 65 wear a size 14 or higher, according to statistics cited by Walmart. Analysts expect that number to grow.
